Scaling Washington

The exhibition "Scaling Washington, Photographs by Colin Winterbottom" was featured at the National Building Museum March 2015 through January 2016.  The exhibit documented inspections and repairs at the Washington Monument and National Cathedral following the 2011 earthquake and highlighted remarkable views and fleeting vantages only attainable from scaffold. Photographs included in the exhibition balanced strict documentation and photographs that illustrate repair processes (like dutchman repairs, etc.) with interpretive images that highlight the drama of these rare circumstance amidst remarkable architecture. This gallery shows several installations from the exhibition and select photographs.

You can also watch the stained glass time lapse video which was a popular feature of the exhibition at this link.
