Many DMV residents will have encountered Artomatic before--it has been around for 25 years! Known for bringing together hundreds of local artists to show their work in vacant office spaces, this Artomatic is VERY PERSONAL to me. I worked in this building for nine years before I was a photographer -- and what's more: I am showing my work in the small space that was my office for most of those years.

It was in that small office that I worked with a team at the Urban Institute to provide policy analysis about health care reform proposals. And I was in that office during the time i was first exploring my "side-interest" in photography. Part of the exhibit addresses the experience of transitions and split attentions as I began to consider a transition to life as an independent artist. I invite you to stop by and have a look at my work and that of hundreds of other DMV artists!

Come to see lots of my work on display in my studio! Off the Beaten Track is a historic warehouse located in the Langdon neighborhood of NE DC. It currently hosts the studios of a number of local artists, many of whom will be participating in this 10th Anniversary Open Studio event.

My first solo-museum exhibition features photograph I made from post-earthquake inspections through scaffolding and repair at the Washington Monument and National Cathedral. The broadest project I've been involved with, the exhibit includes a mix of fine art, documentary, and technical photographs, as well as some time lapse video. Be sure to see the large prints mounted in the atrium as well as the interior gallery spaces (one is pictured above).

I am participating in Long View's group exhibition with what could be the most unusual photographs I've ever exhibited. The a ten foot mural printed over six resin coated panels featuring the newly re-gilded coffers on the barrel ceilings at Union Station. I've printed this mural in an innovative way that makes the gold leafing glow and glimmer in a lively way.

I am pleased to have five pieces in this group exhibition opening Thursday night!  Most are new photos I've never shown before, including the above which is from one of the most striking historic preservation sites I've studied. Union Station restoration

 It was my privilege to photograph the late stages of restoration work at Union Station's historic Main Hall over the last year.  To celebrate the opening of the expansive Main Hall the station has organized an extensive exhibit of its history.  They drew on my photographs to chronicle the most recent restorations.  My series is featured in the southeast area of the Main Hall.  I am very proud of the series and hope you will stop by to have a look.

Favorite sepia, black and white, and recent color photographs from my exploration of the Cathedral are on long term display in the Cathedral's fine art gallery. 

To showcase my favorite photographs made during three remarkable years at Washington National Cathedral, I published a fine art book in an edition limited to 190 copies. I'm pleased to say the edition is about 80-percent sold.  I will make remaining copies available through open studio events (see above).
